The sport of swimming has been recorded since prehistoric times; the earliest references to swimming include the Gilgamesh, Iliad, the Odyssey, The Bible, Beowulf, Quran and others. Swimming emerged as a competitive sport in the 1830s in England and competitive swimming became popular in the nineteenth century. the goal of competitive swimming is to beat the competitors in any given event. In my experience swimming is hard but fun. And I love it when I'm underwater.
